About Ryujin Shuzo
Ryujin Shuzo (龍神酒造) is a sake brewery in Tatebayashi (館林市), Gunma Prefecture. It was founded in 1825. Its brand is “尾瀬の雪どけ”.
In a separate location from the brewery, there is the “富士見町売店” shop, which is open on weekdays. The brewery also has an official online store. Whether the brewery accepts tours is not published (checked on September 30, 2026).
The brewery has issued a notice that Ryujin Shuzo products sold on major e-commerce sites are not authorized distribution products. When you buy, please choose the brewery’s shop, its official online store or an authorized liquor store.
Tatebayashi, a town of azaleas and ponds
“Tsutsujigaoka Park” in Tatebayashi includes a pond called Jonuma (城沼) and “躑躅ヶ岡”, a national Place of Scenic Beauty. Every year from early April to early May, the “Azalea Festival (つつじまつり)” is held in the azalea garden. The garden brings together old azaleas, including one estimated to be 800 years old. From July to August, lotus flowers bloom on the surface of Jonuma, and there are also boat cruises.
The park is about a 40-minute walk, or about 10 minutes by bus or taxi, from Tatebayashi Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line (東武伊勢崎線). From the east exit of Tatebayashi Station, the “館林・板倉線” local bus takes about 11 minutes to the “つつじが岡公園” stop (all times are estimates as of October 1, 2026). Please check the times, including the last bus back, on the Tatebayashi City local bus timetable.
The sake called 尾瀬の雪どけ
尾瀬の雪どけ has many products. Here are three different types from the brewery’s official online store. Prices include tax and are as shown on the official online store (checked on September 30, 2026).
- 尾瀬の雪どけ 純米大吟醸 山田錦50 — A “junmai daiginjo”, made only from rice, rice koji and water, with at least half of the outside of the rice polished away. The only rice used is Yamada Nishiki (山田錦), a sake rice suited to making sake. It has been heat-treated (pasteurization, hiire) in the bottle. 720 ml, 1,980 yen
- 尾瀬の雪どけ 大辛口純米 — A “junmai-shu”, sake made only from rice, rice koji and water, with a rice polishing ratio (seimai buai: the share of the rice that remains after polishing) of 65%. It has been pasteurized in the bottle. 720 ml, 1,699 yen
- 尾瀬の雪どけ とをあまりみつ 純米原酒 — A seasonal limited product. It is a “genshu” (undiluted sake): junmai-shu made only from rice, rice koji and water, bottled after pressing without adding water, with 13% alcohol. “とをあまりみつ” (十余三) is an old Japanese word for the number 13, and the name comes from the 13% alcohol content. 720 ml, 1,848 yen
Some products, such as “尾瀬の雪どけ 純米大吟醸生詰”, are marked “keep refrigerated (要冷蔵)”. Please store them in the refrigerator.
There are also seasonal limited products; in autumn 2026, a junmai daiginjo for Halloween has also come out. The ingredients and brewing methods differ from product to product, so please check the label for the type.

The brewery does not publish a list of stockists or authorized retailers (checked on September 30, 2026). The brewery states, “Please purchase from our authorized liquor stores” (「お求めは弊社正規取扱酒販店にてお願いいたします」).

- The brewery warns that Ryujin Shuzo products sold on major e-commerce sites are not authorized distribution products.
- Whether a store carries the sake, and its stock, differ from store to store. Seasonal limited products may not be stocked, so please check with the store before visiting.
- If you are taking sake home abroad: Bottles over 100 ml cannot go in your carry-on bag before security screening.
