About Nanyoujouzou
Nanyoujouzou (南陽醸造) is a sake brewery in Hanyu (羽生市), Saitama Prefecture. It was founded in 1860. Its brands are “Hanaabi (花陽浴)” and “南陽”.
Nanyoujouzou does not accept brewery tours (checked on September 30, 2026). You can find stores that carry Hanaabi on the “Hanaabi Shop (花陽浴ショップ)” map on the brewery’s official website. The brewery’s official website has no information about an online store (checked on October 1, 2026).
Hanyu, a town of indigo dyeing
Hanyu is a town where indigo dyeing has continued since the Edo period. Now as in the past it is a town of clothing, and in the city the carnivorous plant ムジナモ (waterwheel plant) is carefully cultivated.
Brewing one tank at a time, in small amounts
Nanyoujouzou keeps the amount of each brewing batch small, and brews its sake one tank at a time.
花陽浴 is read “Hanaabi”. On how to handle it, the brewery writes the following on its official website.
“Please be sure to keep Hanaabi refrigerated, and drink it as soon as possible.”

The brewery’s products also include “Ainosato (藍の郷)”. It is a “junmai-shu”, sake made only from rice, rice koji and water, using only the sake rice (rice suited to making sake) Gohyakumangoku (五百万石).

- The brewery asks that Hanaabi be kept refrigerated. Check that it is on a refrigerated shelf, and keep it cold while carrying it after you buy it.
- Whether a store carries the sake, and its stock, differ from store to store. Limited editions and seasonal products may not be stocked, so please check with the store before visiting.
- If you are taking sake home abroad: Bottles over 100 ml cannot go in your carry-on bag before security screening. Put them in your checked baggage, or buy them at a duty-free shop after security screening.
